Let’s DANCE: A Resolution

This is one of my mother’s all-time favorite photos. One that she kept as her computer wallpaper for the longest time because she said that each morning when she sat down to her computer it gave her JOY just to look at it. We named this image “Thistlehill Joy” because it was taken in front of her house, Thistlehill House, and because very time we see it, we feel JOY.

I have been reading friends’ blogs these last few days, listening to their thoughts on last year’s woes and shattered dreams, this year’s hopes and resolutions. They whine, they bless, they pray, they want, they need, they drive out fear and welcome in joy. They are my JOY on dark days. They are like me, they pour their lives out into the world for all to see. They hurt, they cry, they laugh, they worry, they create, they lament, they celebrate, they mourn, and they dance. They DANCE. I so love the way they DANCE.

I am like them. They are like me. Isn’t that enough reason for celebration?

Come with me now, let’s DANCE. Let’s DANCE for there is JOY to be found. Look at me looking at you, I find JOY in your face. I see BEAUTY. Let’s DANCE for the JOY and the BEAUTY that is to be found in your face.

Let’s DANCE.

That is my resolution.

“When you stand still, you reject the struggle, and you refuse to change and grow. Ultimately, you reject fulfillment, happiness, the dance for joy and everything else that is eternally good.” -Matthew Kelly, classical actor and game show host

  2. What a wonderful photo Kim!
Indeed… let’s all dance. (Sort of like Mar and Christina on Greys?) :c)

  3. I’m laughing at the thought of me dancing – that would certainly lift your spirits at the ridicularity. Thanks for making me smile!

  4. Wonderful post!

  5. I love your face! I’m here dancing, and McKinlee loves to dance, too. She can even do an underarm twirl! Look, she wants to dance with you, and she is a joy-filler as well.

LOVE the picture! Just like I love you!

sing with me now, “I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart — Yeah! — down in my heart — Yeah! — down in my heart…”

It’s there even when you don’t feel it. Dance, girl!

  6. I’m with your mom — I LOVE LOVE LOVE this photo. Doggie dancing is the best…
