Addendum to Adventure
As I was counting my blessings this morning — yes, literally counting — I suddenly remembered two of the reasons I was able to start my first day at school with confidence:
- April K., the aunt to my son’s girlfriend, was the first and only familiar face I saw all day. Now I don’t know her very well, but if you know the K. family — and there are so many of them in this county that if you don’t know at least one them you aren’t trying very hard to make friends! — the K.’s make great allies. Who knew that seeing a tall, beautiful Swedish woman first thing in the morning could make one’s day better…wait, prolly LOTS of people knew that. 😀
- The first classroom of the morning had a quilted banner above the chalkboard dry erase board and nine-patch curtains. “You’re a quilter!” I said with amazement to the teacher, “Me too!” In fact, she’s a longarmer. The very Hand of God, I tell ya! 😛
- I’m just throwing in this blessing number three because just the very thought of my Miss Tisha (my Mason’s girlfriend) made me smile this morning. Isn’t she a beauty?!
Time for me to get out into the world and start LIVING my blessings! I have a date with my sewing machine and a room full of ladies working on finishing their UFOs over at the Sugar n’ Spice today. Doesn’t that sound like heaven?
“Map out your future, but do it in pencil.” –Jon Bon Jovi
Speaking of Bon Jovi, did you know that playing the drums “Living on a Prayer” on Rock Band is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay fun?! OMGoodness, I turn into a giddy kid when I play that song…now there’s something that would be funny on film!
