We Belong Together, My Friend

Friendship is hard work, but we belong together.

And by “we” I mean you, me, your mother, the guy next door, the homeless man and his dog walking across town looking for cigarette butts with a little tobacco left in them, the drunk lady on the bar stool and even that woman that corners you after church to tell you about her brother’s kid’s dog’s uncle’s mother’s husband’s ex-wife’s back surgery. Yup, even her. Especially her.

“We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond.” -Gwendolyn Brooks

And that’s all I got to say about that. Now let’s go out there and “find the wonderful in today” and find somebody to love — because Jesus said so!

  1. My favorite quote from Mother Teresa: “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

(You and Mother Teresa – great minds thinking alike!)

  2. Good words!

  3. Amen and amen.
